The brother of a confessed serial killer hanged himself while awaiting a jury's verdict in his rape trial.
The body of John West, 54, was found Thursday, hanging by a rope from a beam in his garage at Gloucester, 90 miles west of London, police said.West, a retired garbage collector, was tried this week on charges of raping a female relative more than 300 times and another woman once. A jury was scheduled to deliver its verdict Monday.
His 53-year-old brother, Fred West, hanged himself in jail two years ago while awaiting trial on charges of killing 12 people.
A year ago, Fred West's wife, Rosemary West, 42, was given 10 life sentences for the torture and murder of 10 of the 12 victims.
Fred West had confessed to all the murders before his death and had tried to implicate his brother in the murders.
