Vonda Speirs Swain, 82, our loving mother and grandmother, died December 10, 1996 of complications following an automobile accident on December 1, 1996.

Born June 26, 1914 in Vernal, Utah to Kenneth and Meda Maude Carpenter Speirs. Married Franklin Enoch Swain on November 10, 1936. He preceded her in death on March 31, 1986. Vonda was a member of the Copperton Study Guild; Daughters of Utah Pioneers, Galena Camp; Copperton Civic Club; and a member of the Board of Directors for the Utah Copper Employees Credit Union. Her life was devoted to unselfish service to family and friends. "She wore a halo even before she left this earth."Survivors: sons, Russell F. (Sue); Michael G. (Michal); Jeffrey D. (Shawnie), all Salt Lake; nine grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren; stepsons, Lawrence R. Swain; Robert F. Swain; 13 step grandchildren; numerous step great- grandchildren; brothers, Harold K. and Owen K.; sister, Marcele Huffaker; also a very special niece, Becky Speirs. Preceded in death by a brother and a sister.

Funeral services Friday, December 13, 1996, at 10:30 a.m. in the Goff Mortuary Chapel, 8090 So. State, Midvale, where friends may call Thursday 6-8 p.m. and Friday one hour prior to services. Interment, Vernal City Cemetery, Vernal, Utah.
