Brigham Young University's undergraduate accounting team took first place and received a $20,000 cash award in the fifth annual Arthur Andersen Tax Challenge Nov. 22 to 24 at the Arthur Andersen Center for Professional Education in St. Charles, Ill.

Members of BYU's undergraduate team, one of 10 finalist teams selected to compete, were Jack E. DaBell, Janaan B. Lake, M. Sadler Nelson and Jonathan T. Peterson. Faculty advisers were Fred Streuling and Robert Gardner.The School of Accountancy and Information Systems will use the cash award for scholarship funds.

The BYU graduate team, which competed against nine graduate teams, also fared well by receiving an honorable mention and a $1,500 cash award. The awards made BYU only one of two schools in the nation to place an undergraduate and graduate team in the national competition.
