Ruth C. Watts, age 79, died December 20, 1996 at her home in Salt Lake City.
Born June 24, 1917, in Salt Lake City to John William and Emma Louise Cordery Watts.Graduated from East High School in 1934. Studied at the McCune School of Music under Professor Anthony C. Lund. Also studied vocal under the late Emma Lucy Gates Bowen.
Member of the Mormon Tabernacle Choir from 1934 to 1947. Member of the Salt Lake Oratorio Society from 1947 to 1966. Sang with the Lund Chaminade Chorus, the Temple Square Mission Choir, Salt Lake Philharmonic Choir and the University of Utah Chorale. Worked at Mountain Bell Telephone Co. from 1947 to 1979. Retired as personnel manager. Served as secretary, vice president, and president of the Lady Pioneer Organization of the telephone company.
Active member of the LDS Church. Served as temple worker, Sunday School teacher, choir member and soloist. Served as hostess at the Beehive House for many years.
Survived by: sister, Barbara of Salt Lake City; nephew, Christopher B. Watts, Denver, CO; nephew, Craig Watts, Salt Lake City. Preceded in death by parents and brother, Byron C. Watts.
Graveside services will be held Friday, December 27th, 1 pm, at the Salt Lake City Cemetery under the direction of Larkin Mortuary.
