David Richard Gourley, 71, former assistant superintendent of the Jordan School District west area, died Dec. 23, 1996, at Jordan Valley Hospital of a heart ailment.
Mr. Gourley's education career spanned 37 years. He worked about half that time in administrative work for the district before retiring 10 years ago.He received a bachelor's degree in science education from Brigham Young University and a master's in educational administration from the University of Utah. He was a biology teacher at Jordan High School, assistant principal at Mount Jordan Junior High, Midvale Junior High and Hillcrest High. He was then principal for a number of years at Midvale Junior High before being appointed personnel director for the district.
Mr. Gourley was an avid hunter and fisherman.
Funeral will be at 11 a.m. Saturday in the Bingham Creek Stake Center, 8950 S. 1300 West, West Jordan. Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday at Goff Mortuary, 8090 S. State, Midvale, and from 9:45 to 10:45 a.m. Saturday at the church. Burial will be in Redwood Memorial Estates.
