Svelte supermodel-turned-actress Andie MacDowell wasn't always rail-thin and glamorous. In high school she worked at McDonald's, pigging out on junk food.

"Those horrible polyester uniforms. They were the absolute worst," MacDowell says in the January US magazine. "I gained weight because I started eating that food."When you get your break you get a free milkshake and a Big Mac. You're so tired you gorge yourself," she said of fast-food work in Gaffney, S.C. "And the next thing you know, your body is expanding inside of these polyester pants."

MacDowell, who co-stars with John Travolta in "Michael," prefers country living over city life. She lives on a 3,000-acre Montana ranch with ex-model husband Paul Qualley and their three children.
