FBI director Louis Freeh and security guard Richard Jewell are expected to testify at a Senate Judiciary subcommittee hearing into the Centennial Olympic Park bombing.

The subcommittee on terrorism, technology and government information will examine the FBI investigation, including how Jewell was questioned and how information identifying Jewell as a focus of the investigation was leaked to the media, said Sen. Arlen Specter, R-Pa.Federal authorities have since cleared Jewell of any role in the July 27 bombing that killed one person and injured more than 100 people.

The subcommittee has tentatively set the one-day hearing for Dec. 10. At least two other hearings into the bombing are being considered but probably will not be scheduled before Janurary.

Specter, the subcommittee's chairman, said Justice Department officials were reluctant to testify until two FBI internal probes were completed. They were to be finished Tuesday, he said.

The Atlanta Journal-Constitution declined an invitation to testify. It also declined a second request from Jewell's lawyers for a retraction.
