To celebrate Israel's "Philately Day," the Israel Postal Authority has issued a single stamp intended to promote interest in hobbies. The new stamp of 1.80 shekels denomination highlights flying model planes.

Building and flying model planes is very popular in Israel. This sport is divided into three main categories - free-flight models, cable-driven models and radio-controlled models. On the tab of the Philately Day stamp are the emblems of F.I.P. (Federation International de Philatelie) and the Israel Philatelic Federation.

The Philately Day stamp is available at your local dealer or one who specializes in Israeli stamps.
