SHARE UTAH HONEY OUTPUT FELL 58% FROM 1994

Utah's honey production was only 1.1 million pounds last year - a 58 percent drop from the previous year, according to the Utah Agricultural Statistics Service.

The state's 32,000 colonies were down 26 percent from the previous year. And the average yield per colony of 33 pounds was below 26 pounds below 1994.All that resulted in a jump in the average price of honey to 61 cents per pound, up 8 cents from 1994.

Bad weather and discount honey from China caused problems.
