Our elegant mother, Dola Harris Hofeling, passed away February 27, 1996 in Salt Lake City.

She was born August 8, 1918 in Lovell, Wyoming, to Leland and Winifred Belle Porter Harris. She married William Leatham Hofeling in the Salt Lake Temple, September 10, 1940. She graduated with honors from Brigham Young University and continued her professional education at the University of Wyoming, University of Minnesota, Instituto Mexicano de Cultura Internacional, Guadalajara, Mexico, and the Alfred Adler Institute at St. Mary's College, Winona, Minnesota. As a professional educator, she taught English and Spanish in the public school systems of Wyoming, Colorado, South Dakota, and Minnesota.After retiring from teaching she served as a cancer care hospice counselor at the Methodist Hospital in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Dola was active in community affairs and held positions in the PTA, the Republican Party of Wyoming, and was appointed to a special "Citizen's Committee on Education" which worked with the Wyoming State Legislature. A devoted member of the LDS Church, she held numerous positions in the Primary, MIA and Relief Society organizations. Of special importance to her was the receiving of the Golden Gleaner award along with her sisters, Bernice and Delsa, from the General Board of the MIA.

She was preceded in death by her husband, William L. Hofeling, and is survived by her children: Leland P. Hofeling, Murray, Utah; Dola Carroll Morris (Gary), Plymouth, Minnesota; David Harris Hofeling (Diane), San Antonio, Texas; and, Nancy E. Anderson (James), Sandy, Utah; 14 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

On behalf of our mother, we would like to express our deep gratitude for the care given her by the nurses and staff of the ICU Telemetry Unit at FHP Hospital. A special thanks to Dr. Frederick Gottlieb who attended not only the needs of our mother, but the family as well.

Funeral services will be Saturday, March 2, 1996 at 2 p.m. at the Wasatch Lawn Mortuary Chapel, 3401 South Highland Drive, Salt Lake City, Utah where friends may call from 12:45 - 1:45 p.m. prior to the services. Interment, Wasatch Lawn Memorial Park.
