The city's newest recreational asset, Harvey Park, near City Hall will be ready for limited use later this spring.

Located at about 910 S. Mountain Road, the facility will be the city's first major park on the east side of U.S. 89. The city's other park is Nichols Park. The City Council approved a contract this week with the Utah Department of Transportation for fencing around the new park.

According to City Manager Richard Marchant, the park has grass and some trees. The city is hoping to have the park ready for some limited Little League baseball play this year - to take some pressure off Nichols Park.

Marchant said funds haven't been budgeted for other traditional features such as playgrounds, but they are included in the park's long-range development plans.
