Sgt. Heather Lynn Johnsen of Roseville, Calif., takes up duty Friday as the first woman in history to stand as sentinel at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier in Washington's Arlington National Cemetery. The tomb holds the remains of an unidentified U.S. soldier from World War I, with soldiers of World War II and the Korean and Vietnam wars adjacent. Johnsen is a military police officer in Echo Company honor guard, 3rd U.S. Infantry Division, one of the Army's most elite units.
