Our wonderful mother, grandmother, sister and friend, Sadie Howard Greenhalgh passed away on March 28, 1996 at age 85.
She was born in Nephi, Utah on Sept. 10, 1910 to George Edward and Charlotte Adams Howard. She married Franklin Pass Greenhalgh on May 27, 1936, in the Manti LDS Temple. He passed away November 29, 1972. They raised four children.Sadie was a member of the LDS Church. She loved her religion and served faithfully in many callings during her life. She loved living in Nephi, where she was a graduate of Nephi High School, a bookkeeper for D.T.R. Furniture Co., a nurse for Dr. Leo Carl Warenski, a sales clerk for Chapman Furniture Co., a correspondent for the Provo Daily Herald, a member of the Ladies Literary Club (her love), and the D.U.P. She was one of 40 nominees for the Governor's 1994 "Quiet Pioneers Award". She was co-author of the book "They Left A Record". Through the years many of her articles and stories were published. She spent endless hours gathering histories, and important church and civic information, which she preserved and filed. She was always involved in speech contests, debate, plays, talks, and readings - and also in helping other people (especially the younger generation) prepare for the same.
Sadie will be deeply missed by her three daughters, Glenn (Jack) Howard; Marilyn (Neil) Garrett, and Majory (Rod) Ewell; daughter-in-law, Violet (LaMar) Greenhalgh; 14 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; three sisters, Martha (Farrell) Collette, Jennie Lyon and Minnie (Blaine) Penney. Preceded in death by her beloved husband, Frank; son, LaMar; three brothers, Ivan, Gilbert, and Dean Howard; three sisters, Florence Howard, Charlotte Hansen and Mabel Jensen.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Monday, April 1, 1996 in the Nephi LDS 7th Ward, 222 So. 100 East. Friends may call Sunday eve. from 6-8 p.m. at the Anderson Funeral Home, 94 West 300 No. and at the church one hour prior to services. Burial: Vine Bluff Cemetery, Nephi, Utah.
