A fifth person has been charged in connection with the shooting death of Salt Lake man last month.
Miguel Flores, 19, was charged Friday in 3rd Circuit Court with murder, a first-degree felony.Prosecutors allege that Flores went with two other men to a house at 918 S. Navajo St. (1335 West) Feb. 22 and witnessed one of the men shoot Joey Miera, 19, through a window.
Miera, who was asleep on the floor, was hit twice in the head and died.
Tyrese S. Smith, 21, Melissa A. Chacon, 21, Collin Carter, 18, and Cameron Lopes, 19, were charged with murder Monday.
Smith, incarcerated at the Utah State Prison, ordered the death in retaliation for the shooting of a friend. Miera was not the intended target, police said.
Flores remains in the Salt Lake County Jail. Prosecutors ask he be held without bail because he was on parole from the Utah State Prison when Miera was shot.
