Claude L. "Slim" Olsen, beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, died Monday, April 22, 1996 at his home.
Born December 28, 1917 in Wellington, Utah, a son of Charles Peter and Margaret Hambrick Olsen. He married Naomi Staley August 26, 1942 in Preston, Idaho. A long time resident of Kenilworth, Utah, resident of Layton since 1964. He worked 31 years as a coal miner at Kenilworth and Castle Gate. Retired member of UMWA Local #1681. Veteran of World War II. Enjoyed hunting, fishing and playing cards.Survived by loving wife, Naomi, Layton; son, Kenneth R. (Rebecca) Olsen, Santa Clara, Utah; daughter, Joyce (Steve) Swaner, West Point; nine grandchildren, Erica (Scott) Matthys, Kerrie (Taw) Jackman, Kendall, Kelly, and Kevin Neumann, Justin Philamalee, serving an LDS mission in San Diego, California; Sean, Shane, and Kayleigh Swaner; great-granddaughter, Kamaree Jackman. Also two sisters, Marie Behunin, Price; and Mary (Bill) Burnside of Kearns.
He was preceded in death by his parents; four brothers, Eugene, Cleon, Lee and John; sister, Delores and a grandson, Cameron Philamalee.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, April 25, 1996, 11 a.m., at Lindquist's Kaysville Mortuary, 400 North Main, where friends may call Wednesday from 7-9 p.m. and Thursday, one hour prior to the services. Interment, Kaysville City Cemetery. Military rites accorded by the DAV.
