Yoko Ono offered an apology - sort of - to the Catholic Church for ripping apart a Bible during a concert in New York.

The incident occurred Tuesday at Irving Plaza. John Lennon's 63-year-old widow was playing with her son Sean and his band, Ima. Belting out a line from the Beatles song "Julia" - "Half of what I say is meaningless, but I say it just to reach you" - she tore pages from a Bible and scattered them into the crowd.Joseph Zwilling, spokesman for the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of New York, called the action "inappropriate."

"I am sorry. I did not mean to offend them by distributing the words of God," Ono said.
