Lydia Johnson Jessop, age 76, died Monday, May 20, 1996, at her home in Hildale, Utah.
She was born February 29, 1920 in Fredonia, Arizona, a daughter of Warren Elmer and Viola Spencer Johnson. She married Fred M. Jessop in November of 1935 in St. George, Utah.Survivors include her husband, Fred M. Jessop, of Hildale; children, Thomas, Albert, William, John, Joseph and Hyrum Jessop; Ellen Holm; Mable Johnson; and granddaughters she raised, Patricia and Mildred Jessop; 12 brothers and 16 sisters.
Lydia served as midwife for 50 years, delivering thousands of babies. She leaves a whole community of thousands who love and revere her.
Funeral services will be held Friday, May 24, 1996, 1 p.m. (Arizona time) at the LSJ Meeting house in Colorado City. Friends may call at the Meetinghouse Thursday evening from 6 until 9 and again on Friday from 10 a.m. until time for services. The interment will be at the Isaac Carling Memorial Park in Colorado City. Funeral directors are the Spilsbury & Beard Mortuary, St. George, 673-2454
