The Davis School District has honored a number of teachers for outstanding performance.
Eight teachers received "Horizon" awards, and $500, for exceptional teaching. They were: Cathi Allen, Bountiful Elementary; Janet Asper, West Bountiful Elementary; Marilyn Beckman, Millcreek Junior; Paulette Birdsall, South Davis Junior; Barbara Gilbert, Washington Elementary; David Seiter, North-ridge High; Leslie Zabriskie, Stewart Elementary; and Kenneth Zeeman, Viewmont High.Four other teachers were honored by the Davis School District Foundation and given $500 for outstanding contributions to learning. They were: Marylyn Billings, Morgan Elementary; DeAnn Hoggan, King Elementary; Kristy Nelson-Zizumbo, Hill Field Elementary; and Richard Jackson, Clearfield High.
A teacher in each of Davis' 68 schools was also peer-selected for inclusion in the Davis County Schools Hall of Fame. Administrators inducted into the Hall of Fame were: Marilyn Oberg, Morgan Elementary principal; John Mills, Clearfield High assistant principal; Mel Miles, district director of human resources; and Douglas Beer, Woods Cross High principal. Outgoing school board members Dan Eastman and Dixie Hill were also inducted.
