Songs from the heart have a whole new meaning for John Mellencamp.

The Indiana rocker, whose new album is titled "Mr. Happy Go Lucky," says his heart attack in the summer of 1994 affected his approach to work."There were many dark moments when you confront what heart disease means," Mellencamp says in the June 12 issue of Rolling Stone. "These songs come out of that."
