Howard Cecil Sumsion, 83, passed away May 25, 1996 at his home in Springville.
He was born on October 22, 1912 in Springville, to Willis and Malinda Singleton Sumsion. On September 4, 1936, he married Ruth Witney in the Salt Lake Temple. As an active member of the LDS Church, Howard served in many church positions, including, bishoprics, high priest group leader, high councilman, Elders Quorum president and a faithful hometeacher. At the time of his death, he was a Provo Temple worker, where he had been serving for the past 20 years. Howard also served an LDS mission to New Zealand with his wife. He was a devoted husband and a dedicated father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He loved the Lord and tried to keep all of His commandments. He was a rancher and a farmer in Springville. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and attending BYU sporting events with his wife, children and grandchildren. He graduated from Springville High and attended Brigham Young University.Howard is survived by his wife, Ruth; his daughter-in-law Rita, Orem; John (Margo) London, England; Steven (Sherrie) Midvale; Floyd (Renee) Parma, Idaho; 13 Grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his brother, Glen, his two sisters, Fern and Rea, his eldest son, Michael, a grandson, Alan and a great-granddaughter, Heather.
Funeral will be Thursday May 30, 1996 at 11 a.m. in the Spring Creek 3rd ward chapel, at 55 North Main Street. Friends may call at the Wheeler Mortuary, 211 East 200 South, on Wednesday from 6 to 8 p.m. or Thursday from 10 to 10:45 at the Church. Burial will be in the Springville Evergreen Cemetery.
