The national champion University of Utah ski team celebrated its successful season by honoring individual accomplishments at an awards luncheon on Wednesday at the U. Alumni House.

Among the awards presented at the gathering, NCAA giant slalom champion Andrew Hare received the C.D. Reddish Memorial Award.Freshman alpine skier Alain Britt-Cote and cross country skier Tor Arne Haugen shared the David Novelle Memorial Outstanding Men's Skier Award.

The Toril Forland Women's Outstanding Skier Award went to former NCAA champions Heidi Selnes and Christl Hager for the second consecutive season.

Alpine skier Mike Elvidge and cross country skier Stine Hellerud were awarded the Alf Engen Sportsmanship Award.

The 1996 season contained numerous highlights, most notably the end result - a ninth national crown for the Utes at the NCAA Championships in Bozeman, Mont. "It was one of the most rewarding championships I've ever been involved in," said longtime Utah ski director Pat Miller.

Utah qualified a full team to the '96 Championships, with 10 Ute skiers earning All-American status by virtue of Top-10 finishes: alpine skiers Britt-Cote, Hare, Hager, Tina Kavcic and Heather Munroe; and cross country skiers Selnes, Haugen, Asle Slettemoen, Kurt Wulff and Ingvil Snofugl.
