Someone was bound to think of it sooner or later. If human beings (some of them, anyway) can have coats of arms, why not dogs?

A new book, "Dog Heraldry" (Macmillan, $24.95), provides coats of arms for 150 breeds of dogs, along with historical descriptions of each breed. The author, Mia Martin, is described in accompanying publicity material as "the world's foremost authority on dog heraldry."

The release doesn't say if she is also the world's ONLY authority on dog heraldry.
