Intel Corp. on Monday began shipping a 200 megahertz version of the Pentium computer chip that runs 20 percent faster than its closest counterpart.

The new chip is expected to become standard in new premium personal computers available later this year.Although Intel's Pentium Pro chip is faster than the 200 megahertz Pentium, experts have concluded the Pentium Pro isn't as compatible with many of the most popular home and business programs.
