Alan Jackson won the top "Entertainer of the Year" award Monday at the annual TNN/Music City News Country Awards Show telecast live from Nashville's Grand Ole Opry House over The Nashville Network.

Jackson also won "Male Artist of the Year" while Lorrie Morgan was named "Female Artist of the Year."Willie Nelson was awarded the "Living Legend" trophy, and gospel-pop singer Amy Grant received the "Minnie Pearl" award for her contributions to worthy causes.

Other winners were: Sawyer Brown - Vocal Band of the Year; Brooks & Dunn - Vocal Duo; Ricky Van Shelton - Christian Artist; Terri Clark - Female Star of Tomorrow; George Strait - Video of the Year for "Check Yes or No"; Vince Gill, Patty Loveless and Ricky Skaggs - Vocal Collaboration for "Go Rest High on That Mountain"; Statler Brothers - Vocal Group; Jeff Foxworthy - Comedian; George Strait - Album of the Year for "Lead On"; Bryan White - Male Star of Tomorrow; and George Strait - Single of the Year for "Check Yes or No."
