It wasn't the yellow submarine, but the 1972 Chrysler station wagon John Lennon drove across country fetched $20,700 at auction, more than twice the presale estimate.

The Town and Country wagon, which Lennon drove across the United States in 1975 with Yoko Ono, sold Tuesday at the Sotheby's auction of rock 'n' roll and movie memorabilia. It was estimated to sell for $7,000 to $9,000.It was the second time the station wagon was sold on the auction block.

Sotheby's sold it in 1984 for $7,700. But the buyer, who remained anonymous, no longer wanted to pay storage and approached Sotheby's six months ago about selling it again.

Jim Morrison's handwritten poetry went for $25,300, and an apron dress worn by Judy Garland for a test shoot of "The Wizard of Oz" sold for $10,637.
