Eulogio Hernandez, "El Carpintero", and our beloved father, passed away peacefully of natural causes on May 31, 1995, in Salt Lake City, Utah.

He was born on March 11, 1904, in Saltillo, Mexico and was the eldest son of Andres Hernandez and Juanita Castillo. He married Maria Luisa Garcia on December 26, 1936 in Brownsville, Texas. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Mesa, Arizona Temple. They shared their life together for sixty years.He left Mexico at the age of 12 for Brownsville, Texas with his family where he lived for 36 years and then brought his family to Fresno, California where he raised his eight children. Eulogio was a carpenter for 50 years, a trade which he learned in Portland, Oregon being a shipbuilder. He worked as a carpenter in Fresno for 40 years.

He served in various church positions including high priest group leader, scout master, stake missionary and in a branch presidency. He was very active in the Hispanic community in Fresno. He was a collector of antiques and spent many hours buying and selling at flea markets.

"Daddy" is survived by his wife, Maria Luisa; sisters, Antonia Beck, Amelia Camarillo, Rebecca Hobbs, Delphina Doyle, Olga Alanoa, and his brother, Eddie Hernandez. He also is survived by his eight children: Emma (Terrell) Bloxham, Salt Lake City; Della (Joe) Paul, Orem, Utah; Emily (Bob) Spackman, Tucson, Arizona; Irma (Byard) Conrad, Pasadena, California; Hector (Betty) Hernandez, Salt Lake City, Utah; Jared (Sharon) Hernandez, Ft. Lee, New Jersey; Diana Romero, Salt Lake City; Lila (John) Macfarlane, Salt Lake City; and 16 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren, and foster daughter, Frances Carrizales, Fresno, California.

His family would like to thank Highland Care Center for the kindness and love they showed our father.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, June 4, at 11 a.m. at the South Cottonwood Stake 11th Ward, 5235 S. Wesley Road (1120 East) in Salt Lake City, Utah. Friends and family may call Monday 6-8 p.m. at the Jenkins-Soffe Mortuary, 4760 South State, and Tuesday at the church, 9:30-10:45 a.m. Interment, Murray City Cemetery.
