Melvin Anderson Lyman, age 74, died June 4, 1996 at Delta.

Born December 18, 1921 at Delta to Edward Leo and Agnes Eleanor Anderson Lyman Jr. Married Laura Pearl Bronson November 11, 1949 in Salt Lake Temple. She died November 29, 1991. Married Paula Marie Thompson March 17, 1977 in Manti Temple. Played tennis and football at Delta High School.Served as bomber pilot during World War II European Theater and North Africa. Graduated from SUSC, earned Medical Degree from U of U. Physician and surgeon for 40 years Utah and Arizona. Served LDS Church in positions including Stake Mission president, home teacher, counselor, Delta 1st Ward Bishopric. Established medical-dental, agricultural and educational aid project (Ayuda) in Guatemala. Published several books on family history, medical service, church and native American history and poetry. Received 1993 Delta Area Chamber of Commerce "Area Giant Award". Loved flying. Farmed and raised cattle.

Preceded in death by son, Alma Lynn Lyman; daughter, Larene Lyman; stepmother: Sarah Louisa McMurdie Lyman, brothers, Edwin Lyman, Royal Leo Lyman; sisters, Mary (Cutler) Henrie, Eleanor (Evan) Skidmore, Ann Lyman.

Funeral services Friday June 7, 11 a.m. Delta 2nd Ward. Friends call Thursday 7-8 p.m. at Nickle Mortuary, 190 So. Center, Delta, and Friday 9:30-10:45 a.m. at church. Burial Delta Cemetery.
