A retired Navy commander who threatened he would "take matters in my own hands" if police didn't do something about the man who threatened his neighbors for 2 1/2 years was convicted of murder.

Danny Palm, 52, was found guilty Wednesday of second-degree murder for gunning down John Harper Jr., who neighbors say tailgated drivers, threw rocks at them and once threatened to burn down a home."It's a total miscarriage of justice," said neighbor Betty Ahrensberg. "We were nearly run off the road. We're trying to find out how we can contribute to (Palm's) defense fund."

A jury deliberated nearly three days before reaching a verdict in Harper's Nov. 28 shooting.
