Don't take life for granted. In the blink of an eye, a great gentle man died from a massive heart attack on June 5, 1996.
Don was born June 17, 1941 in Lake City, Minnesota to Ivaline and Ernest Thorsen. They preceded him in death. He graduated from the University of Minnesota with degrees in mathematics and psychology, and served in the U.S. Army in Korea. For several years Don worked for IBM in main frame computer sales. He married Karen Howells on January 21, 1970. He was president of Riter Engineering and CEO of Utility Testing Laboratory. He was loved by everyone who knew him, and his friendships were diverse.A member of Hidden Valley Country Club, Don was an avid golfer. He also loved to fly fish.
He is survived by his wife, Karen, of 26 years; two sons, Todd, of Berkeley, Calif; and Lee, of Salt Lake City; a sister, Mary Manahan, of Rochester, Minnesota. He was very proud of his family and thrilled to have the boys' fiancees as part of the family.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, June 10, 1996 at the Wasatch Lawn Mortuary Chapel, 3401 South Highland Drive, where friends may call Sunday evening 6-8 p.m. and Monday from 12:45-1:45 p.m. prior to services. Interment, Wasatch Lawn Memorial Park.
