A judge didn't buy actor Timothy Busfield's assertion that a law firm made up a sexual assault case against him.

U.S. District Judge James Ideman on Wednesday ordered the Emmy-winning actor to pay nearly $150,000 to the Minneapolis law firm of Messerli & Kramer. The amount was based on what it cost the firm to defend itself from Busfield's defamation suit, which the judge dismissed in April.Busfield, who played Elliott on "thirtysomething," claimed the firm made up a story that he sexually assaulted a 17-year-old girl while filming "Little Big League" in 1993.

Busfield settled a lawsuit with the girl, an extra on the film, for an undisclosed amount.

Besides the ABC-TV series, Busfield has appeared in the films "Field of Dreams," "Quiz Show," and "Stripes."
