Saturday was the city's second day with temperatures exceeding 100 degrees, according to Jeff Stoneseifer of the Salt Lake office of the National Weather Service. The Salt Lake high of 102 was shy of the day's 1994 record high of 105. The entire state baked under 100-plus temperatures Saturday. Zion National Park reported a high of 104 degrees, while Hanksville recorded a sweltering 105. However, afternoon and evening thundershowers cooled the state off. A high wind gust of 53 mph was reported in South Jordan, a 44 mph gust was recorded in Magna and a funnel cloud was reported in Kimball Junction. Afternoon and evening thunderstorms should keep temperatures down a bit Sunday.
