Edith Eleanor Hageman Knighton, 77, died July 29, 1996 in West Bountiful of complications from a fall.
She was born in Lincoln, Nebraska on March 9, 1919 to Charles and Pauline Hageman. Beloved wife of George Robert Knighton, whom she married on January 24, 1946, in the Salt Lake Temple. Together they raised eight children: Robert Tolman Knighton (Letha), Stockton, Calif.;Roger Tolman Knighton (Elaine), San Diego, Calif.; Jennie Beynon, Salt Lake City, Utah; Byron Tolman Knighton (Kaaren), Leeds, Utah; M. Dean Knighton (JoAnn), Ogden, Utah; Edith Knighton Hoskin (Edwin), Las Vegas, Nev.; George Albert Knighton (Marilyn), Magna, Utah; and Kenneth Hageman Knighton (Susan), Roy, Utah. She has 50 grandchildren, 53 great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband and her grand-daughter, Beth Knighton.Though she was a very private person, Edith loved the visits of neighborhood friends. Loving to work with her hands, Edith crocheted many doilies and fashioned dresses for many neighbors and dresses and dance costumes for their children. A special thank-you is extended to those who brought meals and cared for Edith these last few years of her life.
Funeral services will be held 12 noon Thursday, August 1, 1996 at the West Bountiful 3rd Ward Chapel, 840 North 800 West. Friends and family may call Wednesday evening at the Russon Brothers Bountiful Mortuary, 295 North Main, from 6-8 p.m. and again Thursday morning from 10:30-11:30 a.m. at the chapel. Interment, Bountiful City Cemetery.
