Perchy Ann Frederick Beckstead, 82, our very special mom, grandma, sister and friend, returned to Heavenly Father June 30, 1996 in Sandy, Utah, after a valiant struggle and many trials from strokes and health problems.
She has been reunited with her loving husband, Alma Edgar Bekstead, and a daughter, Lois Ann Jensen; a son, Willis Bill Beckstead, and many other family members and friends. She was born July 30, 1913 to Perchy Martha Dickerson and Willis Frederick in Monroe, Utah. Married Alma Edgar Beckstead November 27, 1929; marriage later solemnized in the Salt Lake LDS Temple on June 6, 1956.
Mom loved the LDS Church and served in many callings: Primary president, Primary teacher and on the Primary Stake Board. She also served in Relief Society, Mutual and Sunday School. She was PTA president and served on the Old Folks Committee for 15 years. She helped form the DUP Tithing Yard Hill Camp and the Rivereen Club. She worked at Utah Poultry and A & R Meats for many years. Mom loved her family above all, especially little children. She was truly our sunshine and was always taking care of someone.

Jensen; daughter-in-law, Beverly Ann Beckstead; 13 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren, who loved her dearly; sisters, Naomi Park, May (Clarence) Benson, Wilma (Dean) Deveraux, Jean (LaVerl) Edwards and a brother, Raymond (Marylou) Frederick. Preceded in death by sister, Ida Newman in 1969.
A mother's her family's strength and guide-a source of hope and light. The one her family looks up to because she makes things go right. A mother is a companion whose loyalty has no end. For she's more than just a mother, she's the finest kind of friend. A mother will hold her family close and keep a watch over all, and she's the one the family know will answer when they call. And though she never seems to get the praise that she's due, the world's a better, happier place because of mothers like you.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, 11 a.m., at the Tithing Hill Building, 1218 West 12400 South. Friends may call Friday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Broomhead Funeral Home, 12600 South 2200 West, and Saturday, one hour prior at the church. Interment, South Jordan Cemetery.
