Layne Hyrum Dille, 37, returned to his Heavenly Father, Thursday, August 15, 1996 at his home in Layton.

He was born March 5, 1959 in Oakland, California, a son of Douglas B. and Jolene King Dille.Layne married and was sealed for time and all eternity to Emily Jan Slone, August 17, 1979 in the Los Angeles LDS Temple.

Layne was raised in Syracuse, Utah and graduated from Clearfield High School in 1977. He served in the U.S. Navy from 1977 to 1981 when he was honorably discharged as a disabled veteran.

He was an Elder in the LDS Church and was an active member of the Dawson Hollow Ward, where he has taught Primary for the last five years. Other callings included, home teacher, Elders Quorum Presidency, Sunday School Presidency, and youth Sunday School Teacher.

Layne was employed as an Aircraft Electrician at H.A.F.B. He also was a Little League baseball coach, he coached bowling, swimming and cycling for Special Olympics, he served on the Special Olympics Board, and was an advocate for children and the disabled.

He is survived by Emily, his wife; three sons, Paul Hyrum; Clark Douglas; David Lyman; a daughter, Adrianna Doris, all of Layton. He is also survived by his parents of Syracuse; one brother, Kevin Dean Dille, Layton; two sisters, Teresa Marie (Jerry) Christensen, Bremerton, Wash.; Sondra Kaye (Clell) Pickett, Ogden; four nieces and four nephews, and many devoted loved ones and family.

Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday, August 20, 1996 at the Dawson Hollow Ward Chapel, 2435 East 1500 No., Layton, with Bishop Douglas L. De Fries officiating. Friends may call 6-8 p.m., Monday, August 19, 1996 at the Lindquist's Layton Mortuary, 1074 No. Fairfield Rd. and also 9:45-10:45 a.m., Tuesday, at the church prior to services. Interment in the Lindquist's Washington Heights Memorial Park with Military Honors accorded by the DAV.
