A woman who died last week in the presence of Dr. Jack Kevorkian suffered from no physical disease, including chronic fatigue syndrome, but was badly overweight, a coroner said Monday.
Claims that Judith Curren suffered a fatal disease were "baloney," said the Oakland County medical examiner, Dr. L.J. Dragovic."There was no indication she had a medical disease," Dragovic said. "I think this one is a tragedy."
"When someone is 260 pounds, you easily get tired," Dragovic said of Curren. "When someone is depressed, you easily get tired."
Dragovic said Curren's death was by injection. Toxicology tests were being done to determine what drug was used, he said. He said the death Thursday - the 35th in Kevorkian's presence since 1990 - would be classified as a homicide, suicide or other after the tests are complete.
Kevorkian has been prosecuted in five deaths but has never been convicted.
