Ace Scott Raymond, 85, our beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend passed away after a brief illness in Salt Lake City on Thursday, August 22, 1996.

He was a former resident of Logan and Providence, Utah. He was born February 11, 1911, in Ogden, Utah, to Vaness and Pearl Scott Raymond. At the age of five, Ace moved to Rexburg, Idaho, where he was raised by his loving grandparents, Spencer and Mary Ann Raymond. He attended college in Sacramento, California, and Logan, Utah. He married Arvilla Watts on October 10, 1935 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. Arvilla preceded him in death in l970. He married Marjorie Kjar Amundsen on December 10, 1971 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple.He is survived by his wife of Salt Lake City and children: Ace Spencer (Melanie) Raymond, Logan; Susan Ellene (Donald) Steinagel, Sacramento, California; John Scott (Debbie) Raymond, Logan; Sydnee Jill (Ron) Gihring, Logan; Patricia Shaun (Mark) Jensen, Providence; Mary Frances (Corey) Savage, Smithfield; Heidi Crocheron, Salt Lake City; and Heather (Nate) Hernandez, West Valley City; 34 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren. Also surviving are four sisters: Rowane Jenree, Beth Clark, and Velta Poplawski, all of Sacramento, and Yvette DeLong, Rexburg, Idaho.

As a member of the LDS Church, he served in various church callings including Bishop of the Logan Fourth Ward; Area Supervisor for LDS Church Construction in Great Britain, Ireland.

During his lifetime Ace was successful in business, construction and real estate. Ace Mill, Raymond Construction, and Raymond Real Estate were companies he founded. He was widely known for his keen business sense, integrity, sense of humor, and interest in people. Throughout his life, including the day of his passing, he shared his musical talent of playing the piano and organ with his family and friends.

Ace enjoyed serving his community. As a member of the Logan Kiwanis Club he served as President and Governor of the Utah/Idaho Area. He was a leader and supporter of the Boy Scouts of America and recipient of the Silver Beaver Award. In 1958 he was elected Cache County Commissioner. He graduated from Utah State University in 1974, received the College of Business Distinguished Executive Award, and was a member of USU's Old Main Society. Ace served on the Board of Trustees for the Utah Youth Village in Salt Lake City, and with his wife, Marge, donated the Raymond Boys Home.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, August 27th, 2 p.m., at the Allen Hall Mortuary, 34 East Center, Logan. Family and friends may call from noon to 1:30 p.m. prior to the service. The burial will follow in the Logan City Cemetery.
