The Great Salt Lake Council, Boy Scouts of America, will join in celebrating Utah's centennial at the Utah Heritage Jamboral Friday and Saturday, Sept. 20 and 21, at Swaner's Memorial Park near Park City.

Scouting officials anticipate that 12,000 Scouts and their leaders from 700 troops will pitch their tents and teepees, making the encampment one of the largest Boy Scout encampments in the nation.Towers, gates and flags will add color to the gathering.

The jamboral will give Scouts an opportunity to share much of the same feelings of excitement and adventure that are experienced at a national Scouting jamboree.

Band music, other entertainment and a spectacular fireworks show are planned Friday night. A flag ceremony, exhibits, trading posts, games and a variety of competitive events are scheduled Saturday.

The jamboral theme will give Scouters a "realization of our rich heritage; of what our past has given us, and a preview of what our future is to provide.
