A 33-year-old U.S. Capitol grounds worker on Thursday was sentenced to three years probation in the assault of Rep. Bill Orton, D-Utah.

Frank Goode also was ordered to undergo psychiatric counseling and stay five blocks away from the Capitol, said Dave Lemmon, Orton's press secretary. Goode also was barred from contacting Orton or his family in any way."It appeared this gentleman was emotionally unstable and needed psychiatric counseling," Lemmon said.

Goode pleaded guilty to felony assault on a member of Congress in June.

Orton, 47, was hit from behind on his way to a House floor vote on March 29.

The incident left Orton with three herniated discs in his back. He underwent surgery last month.
