Robert Frank Edwards, 80, died on January 11, 1997, in San Mateo, California, from complications of Alzheimer's disease.

He was born September 9, 1916 in Salt Lake City, Utah, to Frank and Helen (Coutts) Edwards. He was a graduate of East High School in Salt Lake City, and earned his Baccalaureate degree from Stanford University, and his Masters of Business Administration from Harvard University.He met Toni Watson (of St. George) in 1940, while she was working for the Frank Edwards Company in San Francisco, California. They were married in 1942 in Stanford, California. Shortly after he was called to active military duty. He served with the 42nd Rainbow Division in France and Germany during World War II and was discharged with the rank of Captain.

He worked his entire life at the Frank Edwards Co., Inc., and served as the chairman of the board from 1966 until his death. He was president of the Frank Edwards Foundation. He was also a member of the Board of Directors of the San Francisco Boys Club.

Bob was an avid golfer who served as president of The Peninsula Golf & Country Club .

He is survived by Toni W. Edwards, his wife of 55 years; three daughters and one son, Michele E. Scott, Tiburon, Calif.; Robert F. Edwards, Jr., Hillsborough, Calif.; Mrs. Kay (Kathryn) Robison, Salt Lake City; Kerry Edwards, Hillsborough; also four grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
