DEATH: CASPER EVANS ""TEX"" CARLEN

Casper Evans "Tex" Carlen, 82, died January 30, 1997 at his home in Springville, Utah, from cancer.

He was born July 22, 1914 in Daniel, Utah, to Charles and Harriet Casper Carlen. He married Eugena McDonald on December 24, 1934 in Provo, Utah. She preceded him in death November 23, 1993. Tex retired from Geneva Steel after 34 years of service. He enjoyed fishing, hunting and watching the city league baseball games. He very much enjoyed his grandchildren and great grandchildren. After retirement Tex and Gena spent their winters with friends at Overton, Nevada.He is survived by one daughter and two sons: Gwen Long, Springville, UT; Gary Evans (Judy) Carlen, Boise, ID; Lynn M. (Diane) Carlen, Stansbury Park, UT; 14 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren; and one sister, Lottie Batty, Daniel, UT. He was preceded in death by a sister, Lewella Elliot, a brother, Dermont Carlen, and a grandson, Bryce D. Carlen.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, February 3, 1997 at 11 a.m. in the Springville Stake Center, 245 S 600 E, Springville, UT. Friends may call Sunday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Wheeler Mortuary, 211 E. 200 S., Springville, UT and Monday from 10 to 10:45 a.m. at the church. Burial will be in the Springville Evergreen Cemetery.
