Allegations surface in professional hockey

EDMONTON, Alberta (AP) - Allegations of sexual misconduct have surfaced involving the late Brian Shaw, once one of the Western Hockey League's most influential and respected governors.

Shaw, the former owner of the Portland Winter Hawks and the Edmonton Oil Kings, died in 1993. The allegations come on the heels of former junior coach Graham James' conviction for sexually assaulting two of his players.

On Tuesday, Jim Harrison, who played eight years in the NHL, said Shaw made sexual advances toward him in September 1974 while Shaw coached the World Hockey Association's Edmonton Oilers.
