Fire investigators say an accident caused the Tuesday fire that destroyed the Larsen Foundry Supply company housed in a brick warehouse at 860 W. 2600 South.

Sparks and metal tailings from a metal grinder being used by employees fell to the floor and into a pile of wood scraps, which smoldered for about an hour and then ignited, said South Salt Lake Police Sgt. Beau Babka.Investigators estimate damages from the fire at close to $1.25 million, Babka said.

Two other businesses, Target Mailing and Brambles Security Transport, also suffered smoke and water damages.
