In the 10th of a series describing the settlement of Sanpete County, a celebration Saturday, Oct. 11, will focus on the life of George Washington Bradley and his family.
The celebration will begin at the Moroni Cemetery north of Moroni on U-132, said chairwoman Carol Braithwaite. Registration and a tour of graves and home sites will be from 8:30 to 10 a.m.The celebration will then move to Manti and the Pioneer Monument on the north side of town. A wreath will be placed at the feet of the monument in tribute to the pioneers, and a prayer of thanksgiving will follow.
Following the brief ceremony, participants will visit historic graves at the foot of Temple Hill, pioneer stone buildings and the newly developed History House, recently dedicated by the Manti Destiny Committee.
A fund-raising luncheon and bake sale, with proceeds going to preservations projects, will be served at the Manti Stake Center, 100 S. Main, during the noon hour.
Bradley descendants will present a program at 1 p.m. in the stake center. The public is invited to join in the event, Braithwaite said.
