Officials here are taking a lesson from Provo and creating a place for sexually oriented businesses.

Provo recently faced the controversial opening of a strip club in its business district but then changed its ordinance to force the club to move to an industrial zone. The club doesn't have to move until January but may not move without a fight.Spanish Fork, too, is considering allowing strip clubs in its industrial zone to keep them away from other areas. The City Council will take up the issue Dec. 16 when it considers changing the industrial zone ordinance.

Spanish Fork's industrial zone is on the north edge of town, north of I-15 with smaller areas in the south and southeast near the Fingerhut building. The new county jail is in the north industrial area.

However, unlike Provo, no one is planning on opening a strip club in this conservative town. But officials want to be ready, just in case, said City Manager David Oyler.
