A number of Utah Transit Authority buses are back on a two-block section of Main Street after being diverted on to West Temple for 10 days.

A city utility project on 200 South and 300 South prompted UTA to temporarily move the southbound buses. All of the affected routes begin at Abravanel Hall. Those buses normally turn east onto 200 South, then turn south on Main Street for two blocks, then head west on 400 South back to West Temple. During the 10-day period, the buses simply continued down West Temple from Abravanel Hall.

The bus routes that are back on that two-block section of Main Street as of Monday are Nos. 1, 2, 32, 33, 35, 36, 41, 42, 44, 47, 66, 81 and 88.

All other Main Street buses that were switched on to State Street or West Temple because of light-rail construction will remain on those alternate routes. UTA plans to make some route changes in January, but primarily to remove additional bus routes from Main Street, not to restore routes that formerly used Main.
