Gerri asked me to do this for her....I was just hoping it wouldn't be so soon. So, I will try in the best way possible to do justice by her, in my own way.
On November 20, 1997 in the afternoon Gerri had a final stroke that led to complications resulting in her earthly death on Nov. 21, 1997 at 10:22 a.m. Throughout this time many family, extended family, numerous best friends and people that each had their own special bond with Gerri were allowed to spend some final time with her, by a very patient St. Mark's staff and we thank them for this. For those who knew Gerri, as a clairvoyant and relied on her special gift for guidance should not be surprised if they find suggestions and answers still coming in other ways, as we probably all will experience at some time or another. She chose a Taurean nature, coming into this life on May 3, 1941 to parents, Zola and Harold Stewart. Her father preceded her in death on Nov. 27, 1995. In her younger life, she had a special loving relationship with her Grandma Richins, who helped form some of Gerri's earliest memories and through her life, until Grandma Richins passed away.
Through her earthly experience she shared her life and heart with Everett, Charlie, John and Mike (as wife, some as special other). Each had their own time and special meaning. Her union with Everett produced three children, two daughters, Troy and Angie and son, Lonnie. Each very different from another and she loved them for those differences. Charlie and Gerri also opened their homes to fostering and aiding troubled youth, which they claimed and always will as sons and daughters. Charlie passed away March 12, 1988.
So you see, this was a person who cannot be summed up in a nutshell. She was too diverse and moved in many circles and touched so many lives in conventional and unconventional ways.
Gerri had a love of nature and mother earth, she would often speak of her delight, awe and concern for this beautiful planet we live on. Among her favorite things were lightening storms, mountains, forests, oceans, Coca Cola, Vivarin, comforters, traveling, plants, flowers, deserts, and all four-legged beings, we share our space with. She communed and received joy from it all. We would probably all benefit to take a lesson from this.
Gerri leaves behind a whole planet full of people, but there are some of which she would like special mention, her mother, Zola Stewart; her sister, Paulette; children, those born of her body and the many born of her heart (they all know who they are). Robby, please take care of yourself, she was so worried about you; seven grandchildren, Sabrina, Lacey, Jontue, Dominic, Katrina, Lonnie Jr., and Micheala; two great-grandchildren, Tatiana and Isiah, with at least two more presently anticipated; a multitude of friends and people who loved her.
This occasion has brought much pain, although our sorrow is great, please be gentle and loving with one another, we also must remember to celebrate Gerri's life. Let us spend our energy in doing what we can (for those we can) if there is anything negative, if at all possible minimize or let go of it. Perhaps we can plant something, light a candle, or just hold onto each other.
Per Gerri's request she was cremated. A memorial service will be held at Deseret Memorial Mortuary, 36 E. 700 So., on Friday, Nov. 28, 1997, at 1 p.m. Funeral directors: Deseret Mortuary.
