Mary Douglas Whiting Andrus, age 80, passed away on November 8, 1997 in Holladay, Utah.
Born on December 13, 1916 to Charles Bertram Whiting and Minnie Norman Whiting. Married Hazen Kirk Andrus on April 2, 1940, he died on March 6, 1997. Mary's life was defined by many years of community involvement and volunteer service. She enjoyed participating in the Mick Riley Ladies Golf Association, Utah Heritage Foundation, Salt Lake Cotillion as well as being active in the PTA during the school years of her daughters. She loved the beauty of the valley and its mountains which was exemplified by the many varieties of shrubs and flowers blooming around her home. Mary's lifelong courage and positive outlook are special gifts she leaves to her daughters while her constant concern and consistent love are treasures given to her grandchildren. Mary's example will always be with us as we continue in our love for her.She is survived by daughters, Sherry (Dennis) White, Sandy; Robyn (Brian) Stowell, Valencia, CA; nine grandchildren, Aaron (Laurie), Matthew, Nathan (Kim), Wade and Gregory White; Regan, Kirk, Shannon, and Hillary Stowell; two great-grandchildren; sisters, Dulcie Rouse, Camino, CA and Merle Neal, Pollock Pines, CA. She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Allan, Charles, Malcolm; and sisters, Kathleen and Margery.
Funeral services will be held 1 p.m., Tuesday November 11, 1997 in the Holladay 2nd Ward Chapel, 2065 East 4675 South. Friends and family may call on Monday from 5:30 to 7 p.m. at the Wasatch Lawn Mortuary, 3401 South Highland Drive and on Monday at the ward from 11:45 to 12:45 p.m. prior to services. Interment, Wasatch Lawn Memorial Park.
