Now that downtown Farmington has a new fancy structure - the Richard E. Kendell Building - city leaders are looking at a plan to eventually add decorative outdoor lighting to the area.

The Davis School District occupies the new building, and City Manager Max Forbush said the cost of adding decorative lighting around the Kendell building would be $23,000.He said there is $10,000 in the city's budget for the project now. The rest will have to be allocated later.

The city also has more ambitious plans for decorative lighting in the five-block area from 100 North to 600 North. The total cost of the project would be $422,000.

"It's going to have to be done long term," Forbush said, referring to perhaps a 10-year plan.
