Because Dale A. Kimball was sworn in recently as a new U.S. District Court judge, the law firm that carried his name, Kimball Parr Waddoups Brown & Gee, has changed its name to Parr Waddoups Brown Gee & Loveless, 185 S. State.
Under ethical rules governing law firm names, an attorney appointed as a judge may not have his name connected with a firm. Kimball's name was replaced by Scott W. Loveless, a senior transactional lawyer with the firm who has more than 20 years experience with mergers, acquisitions and securities matters.Since the firm was formed in 1975, Parr Waddoups has grown from five to 45 attorneys and is the fourth largest law firm in Utah. Its practices are centered on securities, natural resources, real property, environmental, employment, construction and land-use law.
Clark Waddoups, who becomes the senior litigator, said the firm is unusual because each attorney, from the most senior to the newest, and has an equal voice in how the firm is run as a shareholder.
