It isn't unusual for parents to argue over child support, as Tom Jones found out.
An appeals court agreed Wednesday with the singer that those fights can go too far - and that his financial statements aren't for a stranger's eyes.Katherine Berkery, 34, sued Jones last year to get him to pay more child support for their son, who was born in 1986 after a brief relationship. In 1989, Jones agreed in New York to make monthly payments of $2,791 to Berkery.
After she moved to Florida, Berkery sued to get more money and detailed financial statements from Jones, whose hits include "What's New Pussycat?" and "It's Not Unusual." He refused to release details without a protective order keeping the information confidential, except to say he makes $89,000 a month.
The 4th District Court of Appeal overturned a lower court and sided with Jones. The ruling sent the case back to a trial court to determine if Florida has authority to alter an agreement reached in New York.
